Good-to-knows

  1. Wifi info on the fridge
  2. There is a rooftop! Feel free to bring my camping chair up.
  3. The shower uses a quirky “pull down” mechanism: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/I5X8-qMbDTo
  4. Dyke things to do in NYC: https://dingherself.com/resources/dyke-things (password: Nokia2780)
  5. The neighborhood
    1. Cordelia, just across the street, is a lovely coffee shop during the day and wine bar during the night
    2. Great coffee: Villager and Padmore’s
    3. Must try food: Ras (vegan Ethiopian), Maple Creamery (vegan ice cream)
    4. Places to work: Cordelia can get busy but is great to work on weekdays (no laptop weekends); Padmore’s opens until late and has good coffee; Lincoln Station also opens until late
    5. Groceries: Mr. Kale (affordable), Food Garden Market (upscale), Lincoln Market (in between)
    6. Farmers’ markets: Grand Army Plaza (Sat 8:00–16:00), Union Square (Mon/Wed/Fri/Sat 8:00-18:00), Carroll Gardens (Sun 8:00-14:00), Borough Hall (Tue/Sat 8:00–15:00)
  6. Subway 🚇
    1. Take the 23 to the west side and the 45 to the east side of Manhattan
    2. The Franklin Av shuttle train SF runs on a predictable 10-minute schedule during the weekday. Leave the apartment on the five (9:05, 9:15, …) to catch it at Park Pl heading south to Prospect Park (bonus: Park Pl is the only station in the MTA system, baring terminal stations, where the same track/platform serves both directions!)
    3. If taking the AC to Manhattan (esp. the Village or midtown) or to Broadway Junction (to change to the L to Bushwick), use the A at Nostrand Av unless there is a well-timed C at Franklin Av
    4. You need to be on the 2345 to transfer onto the BDNQ (amazing view from the Manhattan Bridge), and you need to be on the AC to transfer onto the F
